Govee has made a name for itself in the gaming and smart lighting market, and its latest offering combines these lights with Evangelion to create something truly intriguing. The Govee x Evangelion Gaming Lights collection introduces three new lights to the market, all featuring a special Evangelion look and style while retaining the exciting qualities that make Govee products a great addition to your space. As someone who grew up with Neon Genesis Evangelion, I had to try these lights, and they did not disappoint.
Opening up the Govee x Evangelion lights at the office was a striking experience due to the meticulous effort Govee has put into this collection. From the packaging to the intricate details on the lamps, the Govee x Evangelion collection is impressive and captures the essence of the anime, something I was initially skeptical about. The unboxing experience further emphasizes this attention to detail, with touches that evoke Evangelion at every step of the process.
The Govee x Evangelion collection features three standout products: the Gaming Wall Light, Glide Y Lights and Gaming Light Bars. Each item incorporates design elements from Evangelion, particularly the signature EVA-01 colour scheme and motifs, creating an instant connection for fans of the series. When I unboxed everything, I was shocked at the amount of detail Govee put into the lights, from the little markings along each different light to the way they even themed the power connection, giving them a very unique look compared to the standard versions of these lights.
“The Govee x Evangelion collection’s real showstopper is, without a doubt, the Gaming Wall Light.”
The Govee x Evangelion collection’s real showstopper is, without a doubt, the Gaming Wall Light. Its futuristic dual-layered construction combines a cybernetic translucent faceplate with dynamic backlighting and an elevated strip of diffused light. The faceplate is replaceable, offering multiple design options for customization. The light’s modular assembly allows for a range of designs, including hexagons reminiscent of the AT Field or the Spear of Longinus if you want to go down the Evangelion rabbit hole as much as possible.
While the lights look fantastic just on the wall with the detail and design, The Govee x Evangelion collection Gaming Wall Lights have special Eva designs that bring the whole concept to life. It features eight special Evangelion-themed lighting effects that replicate complete battle sequences. From alert modes to AT Field and Berserk status, the lighting mimics various combat scenarios from the anime. There are even specific themes for EVA-01 and EVA-02.
As with all Govee lights, customization is a key feature of the Gaming Wall Light, giving you a massive level of control over how it all looks. While there are the special Evangelion effects, which you can access by scanning a special one-time-use QR code, they also allow a huge level of personalization for a range of settings. They offer extensive options with separate controls for light zones, multiple dynamic effects, and adjustable lengths. Users can create the perfect ambience with 16 million colour combinations and themes.
The Glide Y Lights (H6065) continue the Evangelion theme with their unique Y-shaped design that looks great alongside the Gaming Wall Light. This set of 5 individual lights can be arranged in different configurations, allowing users to create custom patterns on their walls whilst still retaining the Evangelion look that makes this collection so special.
“…the theming with the Govee x Evangelion Gaming Lights is impeccable and has a very different look from the other lights in the collection.”
If you have owned Govee lights before, there is nothing too groundbreaking about the overall look of the lights themselves. However, the theming with the Govee x Evangelion Gaming Lights is impeccable and has a very different look from the other lights in the collection. I also have to say that the ability to have the Glide Y Lights design go around a corner of the wall is a nice touch and opens up the level of design to more complex concepts that you would not normally be able to do with lights like this.
Much like the Gaming Wall Lights, the Glide Y Lights look fantastic on their own, but the Evangelion concept is best used when you dive into the custom collab lighting designs. These really help to make the lights stand out in a room and use the concept to its full potential without ever feeling too overwhelming. I will say that if you are not a fan of the anime, many of the little touches will be lost on you, but for a set like this, it is the Govee x Evangelion collaboration that makes it unique and something worth investing in.
The Govee x Evangelion collection is rounded off by the Gaming Light Bars (H6047). These simple two-light sets can be placed on a desk or mounted behind a monitor, providing ambient lighting that reacts to the action on the screen. Like the other products in the collection, they feature Evangelion-inspired colours and effects.
As they are used to provide light behind a monitor, the design will not be seen as much as the other lights in the Govee x Evangelion collection, but Govee has still put a lot of detail into every part of the lights, from the base right up to the light itself. Of the three, these are the ones that don’t feel as if they’re trying to show off the Evangelion connection, but that’s not to say they’re bad, just a little less in your face when compared to the Glide Y and Gaming Wall Lights.
Thanks to Govee’s user-friendly design, setting up these lights is straightforward. The lights come with all necessary components, including power supplies and controllers. Users can easily connect the lights to power by matching the positive and negative ends to the corresponding poles on the adapter. For more advanced setups, the lights can be connected to a controller for additional functionality.
Depending on the lights, Govee has made it easy to design concepts with the app, showing potential designs and guides to show how the lights need to be connected to work. While it can feel a little overwhelming when you first unpack everything and try to work out how it all fits together, there is some forgiveness for getting them on the wall incorrectly, thanks to a clever Velcro-like connection that allows for some movement if something is put on incorrectly. I would still advise you to take your time attaching them to the wall, but at least if you make a mistake, it is not the end of the world.
As someone who loves the aesthetic of Evangelion, this collection is a unique way to express that passion. As I said, Govee has really put some thought into this collaboration, and it shows. These lamps are a fantastic addition to any room and even better if you love the source material. The ability to customize and synchronize the lights allows you to create something incredibly unique and helps to create the perfect Evangelion-inspired environment, whether you’re playing games, watching anime, or just relaxing.
If I have any gripe, it’s with the Govee x Evangelion pricing, as these lights sit at the premium level of the market. The Gaming Wall Light (H6063) is priced at $199.99, the Glide Y Lights (H6065) at $179.99, and the Gaming Light Bars (H6047) at $89.99. Even though they are pricey, for the right person, these lights are well worth the expense. The level of customization, unique Evangelion theming, and integration with Govee’s broader ecosystem make these prices feel justified for fans looking to create a truly special gaming or living space.
These Govee lights feel like the perfect addition to any fan’s collection. The Govee x Evangelion Gaming Lights successfully merge the iconic aesthetics of the Evangelion anime with cutting-edge lighting technology, creating products that are both functional and deeply evocative of the series. Whether you’re a die-hard Evangelion lover or simply someone who appreciates innovative lighting solutions, this collection offers something special. I only wish I had another set to bring the Evangelion look to my home gaming setup.
